Reverend Wallace Gaulke Obituary

It has pleased the almighty God to summon out of this veil of tears to Himself in heaven the soul of Pastor Wallace Gaulke on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Marshfield with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Daniel Naumann will officiate. Burial will take place at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Wallace was born on January 18, 1940 in Rio Creek to Walter and Bertha (Groth) Gaulke. He was baptized on February 4, 1940 and confirmed on June 28, 1953. He graduated from Concordia College in Milwaukee and Northwestern College in Watertown. He began his pastoral education at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and later transferred and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. His first call was to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN. He then served at Salem Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, WI. From there he took a call to Immanuel Lutheran in DePere and St. Paul’s Lutheran in Greenleaf, WI. Wallace married Joann Brinkman on June 23, 1973 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chaseburg, WI.

He is survived by his wife, Joann, children, Jane Gaulke, Walter (Nancy) Gaulke, Mark (Tiffany) Gaulke, and Joy Gaulke, grandchildren, Eden Gaulke, and Marie, Katie and Wesley Gaulke, and step grandchildren, Alyssa (Jake) Pedersen (& their daughter Sawyer), Ryan Herbst, and Brady Herbst.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bertha, daughter, Carol Gaulke, brother, Wayne Gaulke, sister, Pearl (Walden) Stroobants, and niece, Jody Stroobants.
